Abstract
Machine learning (ML) poses complex challenges for user experience (UX) designers. It’s statistical methods may produce unforeseen outcomes detrimental to particular groups or individuals. In this paper I discuss how a generative technology-as-monster metaphor can shine light on hidden assumptions and uncover areas of uncertainty when designing with ML.
